Velma Walker AFSM and Wendy Roberts have been named as finalists in the Rural category of the Rotary Inspiration Women's Awards.
Mrs Walker has racked up 30 years with the RFS, as well as donating her time and energy to the CWA, Rotary, Quota, the Albatross Music Society and State Choir.
But it all began with the NSW Ambulance Service Woman's Auxiliary.
At a picnic with her best friend, aged 14, a book of raffle tickets was pressed into her hand.
"That was it for me," she said.
"I just love it. I enjoy meeting people and if I can help someone I like that too."
Mrs Roberts was named the Citizen of the Year at Shoalhaven City Council's 2020 Australia Day Awards.
She has been involved with several organisations including the Erowal Bay RFS Brigade, the Crossroads Brigade, Jervis Bay Lions Club, Girl Guides, Camp Quality, War Widows and Meals on Wheels.
Mrs Roberts joined Erowal Bay Brigade of the NSW Rural Fire Service in 1961 where she has held various roles over her 59 years including Callout Officer and Secretary.
In addition to her formal volunteer work, Wendy gives her time to help many members of the Shoalhaven with personal care, transport and assists with nursing home resident's hospital visits.
Member for the South Coast, Shelley Hancock, congratulated them.
"Both these women have given tirelessly to multiple community groups including the NSW Rural Fire Service, Lions, Girl Guides and Country Women's Association," Mrs Hancock said.
"The passion, enthusiasm and dedication to the community displayed by Mrs Roberts and Mrs Walker over their decades of service is a credit to them," said Mrs Hancock.
A virtual awards ceremony is currently being organised by the Rotary Inspirational Women's Award committee for November 15, 2020.
