The North Nowra-Cambewarra talent will captain the South Coast Crew side, which will take on the Illawarra Flames in the opening round of the Twenty20 competition on Sunday at the Croome Regional Sporting Complex.

Joining Weller in the 13-man squad are Norths' Hyeon Parsons, Nathan Thomas and Matt Hickmott and Berry-Shoalhaven Heads' Daniel Troy and Jarrod Mitchell.

Rounding out the squad are South Coast cricketers Zac Young, Scott Groves (both Gerringong), Nathan Whiteman, Paul Clarke (both Kookas), Zane Mitchell, Kobe Ross (both Albion Park) and Liam Mackrell (Kiama).

"Batting is the strength of our side," Well said.

"We have a very deep batting line-up with a number of really promising young stars, which are balanced with some quality experienced cricketers."

Their rivals on Sunday from 10am will be spearheaded by Batemans Bay product Rhys Voysey.

"Illawarra is always a tough match-up," Well said.

"They have a well-balanced line-up, so the key for us is our bowling and fielding.

"We have to stay disciplined with the ball, bowl to our fields and field sharply.

"If we do that, it will go along way to winning the game."

If South Coast Crew do prevail on Sunday, they will next play the winner of the other Thunder Pool fixture between the Central West Wranglers and Orana Outlaws and edge closer to an unprecedented grand final berth.

"The big part of South Coast Crew not being successful is the fact we haven't been able to field our strongest line-up every game," Weller said.

"Last year was probably one of our strongest sides but unfortunately we just didn't get the job done.

"We are under no illusions about the strength of the teams in this competition but a successful run in this tournament would highlight the talent the South Coast possesses.

"It would mean a lot to the area to win the Regional Bash and I'm backing us go get the job done this year."
