Since the parks reopened on June 1, there has been an influx of bookings from intrastate travellers.

Holiday Haven marketing coorindator Matt Del Turco said they had anticipated a high demand but nothing to the level they'd seen.

"We've had quite a strong demand. For the first quarter, occupancy across the parks was up 40 per cent across our 12 parks and it's actually our strongest quarter on record," Mr Del Turco said.

And the record-breaking numbers may continue into summer with most parks fully booked out over the Christmas peak.

"The majority of the parks are pretty much at capacity in their cabins for nearly every weekend between now and March," he said.

"We do have a little bit of availability mid-week but leading into Christmas peak season I believe all but three parks are fully booked for the peak season.

"We're expecting around 26,000 guests over that five week period."

Around 90 per cent of visitors over the past few months have been NSW travellers.

"The feedback we're getting from the park managers is that it tends to be a lot of first time caravan and campers that usually would travel overseas or interstate but are exploring their own backyard."

Although some COVID restrictions have eased across NSW there are still a number of measures which have been put in place to limit contact between guests.

"We're putting measures in place so a lot of people can enjoy their summer holidays which they didn't get to enjoy last year.

"We've got limits on all our our communal facilities and amenities, we've limited the numbers in our swimming pools and jumping pillows, and we've also got an express check in so guess don't have to come into the offices.

"It's about trying to limit contact where we can. We normally run a lot of school holiday activities and that will appear a little different this year."

Throughout the past few months, Holiday Haven has also been working to improve its facilities.

"We've got a new swimming pool going into Holiday Haven Currarong and we've got three new safari glamping tents overlooking Jervis Bay at White Sands.

"Even with the increased demand in traffic we've still been able to improve facilities and work on products for our guests.

"Across the board we've got about 11 brand new cabins going in before Christmas."
