The tough decision to not go ahead with the popular family event hasn't been easy for the committee.
'In October rules changed to allow outdoor events up to 500 people but we worked out that the crowd was not allowed to sing - no point having carols if you can't sing," chamber secretary and vice-president Matt Dell said.
"So we cancelled our plans but last week the rules were revised to allow carols and singing but we have to enforce that everyone remains seated and wears a mask.
"This news was a bit late, put a lot of onus on the organising group and we think detracts from the normal fun of the event."
Matt said the workload involved to satisfy the risk management and the fact that people can't interact they way they would want to meant it wasn't worth running in the end.
He plans to come back bigger and better in 2021.
"Personally I love hosting the carols every year and I am very disappointed but we will be back in 2021," Matt said.
