Before, agents that remained open spent most of their time helping customers with cancelled bookings for no pay and losing their commission.
But signs are looking up.
Last Friday was the busiest day for Nowra's My Travel Experts since March.
"It's still domestic travel but it has been our busiest day since march," Julie Woodall from My Travel Expert said.
"We came home with a smile on our face and probably for the first time we felt a little big lighter in our hearts - it was a good day," Leonie Clay from My Travel Expert said.
"It was funny walking out of here at 5:30 instead of knocking off at 4 with all the extra work we had to do," Julie said.

With most borders open My Travel Expert has been taking a fair few bookings for Queensland and Tassie but the biggest bookings have been for Norfolk Island.
"You can go to Norfolk and Lord Howe if you want an island holiday," Leonie said.
"People just in booked two trips for next year Norfolk Island and Darwin and Broome.
"We're finding for 2021 if you want to do any thing in WA or Northern Territory you need to get in and book because there is limited availability.
"People are wanting to get out - it's like they've got cabin fever and need to get out."
If you are an avid cruiser, Julie and Leonie are expecting cruises to start again in the second half of 2021.
"They're actually doing virtual sailing to get their staff ready and they have virtual passengers," Leonie said.
In September, Leonie and Julie started selling second-hand books to help pay the rent.
Although they couldn't find someone to sub-lease half their travel agency has now turned into a bric-a-brac store.
"We're having a lot more people coming through our pop-up shop," Julie said.
She expects the pop-up shop will still be there until they can find someone to sub-let or international travel picks up and they can put more staff on again.
