The Association's President, Ian Carroll some months back attended the briefing meeting conducted by Mr. Paul Vecoski, Project Director for Transport for NSW in regards to the Bypass.

During that meeting, even though Mr Vecoski noted no decision on the preferred route had been taken, it was apparent Transport for NSW will indeed put forward the nominated route as shown on the Shoalhaven Local Environmental Plan, which they have now done.

This ridiculous option provides a bypass of Milton/Ulladulla terminating on the Princes Highway at Canberra Crescent which is just north of Burrill Lake.

It is obvious that the population growth and expansion of the communities of Burrill Lake and Dolphin Point were totally ignored. It must be considered that according to the 2016 census Milton's population was 1663 while Burrill Lake/Dolphin Point had a combined population of 1667 and that in the 4 years since that census the population of both areas have increased significantly by over 15%.

Residents of Burrill Lake/Dolphin Point have expressed to the Association their complete rejection of the Canberra Crescent option and it is the Burrill Lake Community Association's intention to lobby our local member, the Minister for Local Government, the Honourable Shelly Handcock on this issue. We will also take whatever action is necessary to have our objections heard and acted upon to the satisfaction of the community.

The plan is more than 20 years out of date. Ulladulla has expanded since the original route was proposed. You are going to build the bypass right next to residential housing. There is going to be a need for a sound barrier between the road and the town of Ulladulla because it will now be so close. The proposed route option is probably the cheapest, but for the sake of people's sanity, please move it further west.

The bypass has been talked about since Shelley Hancock herself was a girl. Now the MP states that "...so it really is time we took the plunge and started to do some real work on that project". Begs the question as to why it has taken so long for Shelley and her State Government colleagues in the first place. The answer lies in the fact that the northern Shoalhaven, with its well-heeled residents, gets most of the State and local funding for improvements of any kind. Seeing that the State Government already owns a corridor as highlighted in the Shoalhaven Local Environmental Plan I see little room for community consultation that will result in any probable route changes. I'd like to see it go ahead like everybody else but I do feel sorry for the folk at Burrill Lake, all the pain with no gain.

That's great, now all we need is for the Milton Ulladulla Bypass to come out south of Burrill Lake. Shelley you know how chaotic it's going to be for Burrill residents if it comes out at Canberra Crescent. Please support the Burrill Lake residents in getting the bypass south of Burrill Lake.

Brilliant decision. Traffic will able to be continuously free flowing as it should be. Five Islands intersection should have been done the same. Pine Forest road and the highway intersection will need to be a flyover eventually because of the ever growing population out Callala way. Designed appropriately it will give those employed at HMAS Albatross a far safer way to access BTU road.
