Milton Ulladulla Hospital Auxiliary Branch's efforts recognised
THE Milton Ulladulla Hospital Auxiliary Branch of NSW may have missed out on winning an award recently but in the eyes of the community, the group's amazing volunteers are still winners.
Auxiliary members recently attended the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District 2020 Extraordinary Staff and Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony.
The auxiliary was an Outstanding Service finalist - an achievement the volunteers were both proud and honoured to achieve.
Award nomination aside, the auxiliary has not let COVID-19 stand in its way and has been busy of late raising funds to help the community.
Just recently the group presented the hospital with a cheque for $33637.50 to purchase a Renal Ultrasound device.
The funds came from donations from the local "amazing generous community".
Other groups and organisation also support the auxiliary.
The Mollymook Beach Bowling Club Women's and Men's Bowling Clubs presented the auxiliary with a cheque for $3579.
"Even with all the challenges with COVID-19, they managed to raise an amazing amount. Please support the great club and community," an auxiliary spokesperson said.
The auxiliary fundraising efforts continue and the group has just opened a "pop-up shop" in the Rowans Arcade.
The pop-up shop is a perfect place to get a Christmas present or two and its opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
In recent times, the auxiliary championed fundraising for the Milton Ulladulla Hospital Renal Unit facility with numerous events being held over several years, resulting in funds to the value of $225,000.00 being presented for the purchase of renal equipment.
The Milton Ulladulla Hospital Auxiliary Branch of NSW was formed in 1933 and is run by a group of dedicated local volunteers.
There are three arms providing services:
- Fund Raising to purchase vital medical equipment for patient treatment, care and comfort
- Hospital Visitation team where our members visit patients in hospital and read newspapers or books to patients; or just have a chat
- Milton Ulladulla Hospital Patient Library. The library provides the hospital patients with the opportunity to relax and read in the library room or take a book back to their bed. If they have not finished the book, they can take the book home.
