The talented Mollymook based golfer had one thing on his mind - to qualify for the 2021 NSW Open.

Jye's determination came to the fore and he shot a brilliant five-under round of round of 67.

He went on to win the Adidas Junior 6's National Final Strokeplay and in the process becoming the NSW Golf Club's series champion.

The rising golfer also stormed to victory at the recent ACT Junior Week shooting five-under for 72 holes.

Jye, for these wins, earnt exemptions into the 2021 NSW Open and 2021 Western Australian PGA.

The 16-year-old is learning that when it comes to golf sometimes things don't go your way.

"I tried to qualify before and missed out - I just did not have the best day," he said about his past NSW Open qualification attempt.

"Then recently I played in a qualification event at Bowral and just missed out again."

The 16-year-old Ulladulla High School year 11 student is looking forward to taking part in the NSW Open.

"I am looking forward to soaking up the experience and meeting new people," he said.

The 2021 NSW Open will be played at Concord Golf Course from March 25 to 28 and the professionals will be playing for a purse of $400,000.

Jye said his putting and chipping were the strengths of his game, but the teenager works hard on all aspects of his game daily.

"I live across from the Mollymook course and practise regularly from 4pm to 6pm," he said.

His overall goal is to become a professional player - in the Justin Thomas mould.

"He [Justin Thomas] is my favourite player because he is a good role model," Jye said.

Jye started playing golf when he was around eight-years-of-age.

"I got my handicap when I turned nine," he said.

Initially, his handicap was 36 but now plays off three.

He is a member at Mollymook Golf Club but plays Major Pennant in Sydney for New South Wales Golf Club.

Jye also likes water-skiing and motorbike riding.
