At Corrimal's Ziems Park, tries to Stingrays' Teagan Berry (in the 17th minute) and Keeley Kopara (55th) secure the hosts the victory - with Mollie Bonham adding one conversion.
Jasmon Tupou scored the visitors' only try in the 38th minute.
This was the only Steelers side to taste victory on Saturday, with both the Harold Matthews and SG Ball sides going down to the Roosters at Mascot Oval.
Despite four-pointers from Kynan Clough (two) and Palu Tausala, Illawarra's Harold Matthews side, who led 12-4 at the break, went down 26-18 - with Clough also adding three conversions.
While Illawarra's SG Ball team lost 28-16, with Benjamin Lavender (two) and Brandon Morkos getting their names on the scoresheet.
Alexander Lobb added one conversion in the loss.
In round three, all three Steelers sides head to Canberra's Belconnen Oval to play the Raiders on Saturday.
The Tarsha Gale girls with kick-off the triple-header at 11am, before Harold Matthews at 12.30pm and SG Ball at 2pm.
