Lifeline South Coast is running three community training sessions for people in the Ulladulla district. These sessions have been funded by the National Disaster Relief Fund of the Uniting Church in Australia and the Target Bushfire Relief Appeal through their charity partner UnitingCare Australia and are at no cost to the community of the Ulladulla area. There is a variety of courses available including suicide prevention skills, psychological first aid and DV-aware. DV-aware will take place on March 8 from 10 am to12 pm at the Ulladulla Uniting Church Hall, 71 North Street. The PFA workshop is a three-hour program and aims to provide basic skills for helping people affected by a disaster. Participants will learn how to provide human social support to people impacted by a disaster or critical event and aid Community Recovery. An important aim of psychological first aid is to build people's capacity to recover. Psychological first aid supports recovery by helping people to identify their immediate needs and their strengths and abilities to meet these needs. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognise the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR training will provide you with knowledge and skills to identify warning signs that someone may be suicidal confidence to talk to them about suicidal thoughts connect them with professional care.
