The three Shoalhaven SES units; NSW SES St Georges Basin, NSW SES Nowra Unit and NSW SES Ulladulla Unit teamed up to provide assistance across the region.
While remote members were in Nowra performing different functions, Division Commander Tracy Provest said enough trained members and availability meant the crew could operate across the entire Shoalhaven from Ulladulla.
"We had enough people available during the day and we've been training people for 18-months so for this event, it worked really well," she said.
"It was also a great chance to help the media and other people in emergency services understand it doesn't always have to be run out of Nowra.
In the past 72 hours (from 10am, Wednesday, March 3), SES crews had attended to 104 jobs. The most impacted suburbs were Nowra, Ulladulla, Sanctuary Point and Basin View.
Last night an Ulladulla resident received an unwelcome surprise when they went downstairs and discovered the whole area flooded. Crews were able to pump the water out.
Tracy said other jobs included sandbagging around people's downstairs entry and garages, and several roofing jobs. A few trees were also cleared but fortunately the wind didn't come up as much as expected last night.
On today's agenda for the SES is recon work, checking lakes and lakes' entrances, and the welfare of Brooman and Yadboro residents.
"The Brooman guage is down and there's 200 people out that way so we just need to go and make sure everyone's okay," Tracy said.
"If there's anyone with a medical emergency or appointment they need to get to, they need to get in touch."
Tracy said the community response to the combined SES assistance over the past five days has been positive.
"All three units set up sandbag drops which were well-utilised and the community feedback has been good. It's been a real team effort across all three units," she said.
"Having the combined approach has reduced the total impact and increased the number of people we could put in the field."
Tracy encouraged everyone to follow the NSW SES St Georges Basin, NSW SES Nowra Unit and NSW SES Ulladulla Unit's individual Facebook pages for the most up to date, area-specific, information.
