So - what is U3A and what does it offer?
U3A is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which aims to offer semi or fully retired people low-cost opportunities to learn, share or participate in a pleasant supportive social setting.
There are no formal entry requirements, no examinations and no "awards".
U3As are basically self-help groups built on the premise that collectively semi and fully retired people have the skills and knowledge to provide activities and learning opportunities for each other.

The principles of self-help and mutual support are the cornerstones of the U3A movement.
U3A Shoalhaven has been running for some 35 years and it's great to be able to revitalise its offerings after COVID - though of course we're still practicing COVID-safe procedures.
After a tentative restart in term one, the group has now expanded activities (and enthusiasm) for term two.
Of course, all the old favourites (in our broad categories of arts and literature, current affairs, philosophy, entertainment, excursions, travel, health, sport, history, culture, languages, science, technology) but as well, there is a taste of some of the new offerings.
Singing restrictions have been lifted, with the group holding both learn to sing (on Wednesdays) and singing for seniors (on Fridays), a selection of your favourite Gilbert and Sullivan operas in dazzling performances on Wednesdays.
There are walks at Currarong and Merribee Gardens.
How about Russia from Vikings to Putin, the art of Medieval Siena or making your own cards?
Very topically, there is what is SARS COV2 and COVID-19, and plans to Repower the Shoalhaven.
Also, because we haven't been able to travel, we are bringing some travels to you, including the president reporting from Morocco.
