Walkley nominated Producer and Life on the Coast (LOTC) Executive Producer Michael Pignataro and Program Producer Allan Baptist OAM have been blown away by the response to the series, which has seen an audience growth of up to 20 per cent from episode one to two.
"It's been amazing to see the reaction from locals, many of whom had never heard some of the stories revealed in the series," said Michael.
"Also, we've had viewers from across Australia contacting us, saying they are inspired by the tenacity of those rebuilding their lives and communities."
Episode three will be a special farewell not only for the series but a champion of regional tourism.
Col Waller passed away last month. He was a former Destination NSW board member and advocate for regional tourism, particularly the Shoalhaven. The popular publican owned the Heads Hotel in Shoalhaven Heads and was the National/NSW State Secretary Treasurer of the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) and Tourism Accommodation Australia.
Col shared his passions for regional tourism in an interview only weeks before his passing, despite his ailing health.
Business owners, tourism operators and community members have praised the unique approach LOTC has taken to not only uncover the beauty of the region, but also the characters who live there.
Kangaroo Valley Chamber of Tourism Commerce Lindy Pitt said the series will attract visitors to the region devastated by bushfires, which destroyed around half a dozen homes.
"What a great job you have done of making Kangaroo Valley look beautiful. Many thanks and congratulations on what is shaping up to be an excellent overview of life in this part of the world," she said.
The final episode of 'Living on the South Coast - Shoalhaven Recovers' will air Saturday, May 8 at 4:30pm on the WIN Network.
