The Barry Bryant Memorial Garden, located in front of the Milton Ulladulla Uniting Church's Uniting Outreach Centre, was a recent target of a thief or thieves .
Volunteers recently were "deeply saddened" to find that some very callous person or persons had stolen rock orchids from the centre's memorial garden.
"The volunteers at the Outreach Centre work very hard to provide a valuable service to the community," a spokesperson said.
"They [volunteers] work under the umbrella of the Milton/Ulladulla Uniting Church.
"Our memorial garden was set up to remember our well-loved members and gardeners, Judy and Barry Bryant, who provided many plants to our monthly charity street stalls which helped to raise a great deal of money that went directly back into the community."
It's not the first time the garden has been targeted.
"Sadly this is not the first time this has happened - previously a shrub was dug up and stolen," the spokesperson said.
"So it is doubly disturbing and upsetting to think that someone can be so lacking in empathy to steal from a charity."
If people wanted plants all they needed to was ask.
"I'm sure I speak for many when I say that if they had asked, someone from outreach or our church would have been delighted to share their own plants with them," the spokesperson said.
"After all, a garden is there to be shared but not stolen."
The plants have been disappearing for some time and volunteer gardeners keep replacing them.
However, the latest incident was most disturbing as rock orchids from around the Moruya Granite stone that has the plaque on dedicating the garden to Barry Bryant were taken.
Mr Bryant grew plants to sell at the Outreach Centre for 20 years before passing away in 2019.
