A café or restaurant? Perhaps a homewares store or weekend farmers' market?
These are all of course very important local businesses, but the list does not stop there. The broad range of businesses in Milton and Ulladulla as well as the wider Shoalhaven region mean that there is little need to go far for all manner of goods and services.
In this year's Think Local we spotlight a few of them and share how they are part of the unique community that we call home.
Businesses such as Anthony Fondacaro's Legacy Wills and Estates is helping local families through their toughest times with legal services as good as any found in the capital cities but with a personal touch that can only come with being local.
At Shoalhaven River College, principal Trish Ikin, a lifelong educator in the area, is leading a new model of education specifically designed for the needs of kids in the region.
Kings Point Windows and Glass tell us how they are continuing to manufacture windows and doors right here in Ulladulla while at Beachside Pharmacy, pharmacist proprietor Jeff Soo is continuing to grow the services on offer.
Finally, local MP Fiona Phillips highlights how local organisations such as the Flagstaff Group are gaining some much needed funds for critical works as part of the Stronger Communities program.
