The funding will allow Essence Group to expand their operations from nutraceuticals, dietary supplements and infant nutritional products to produce fortified complementary medicines and therapeutic liquids, providing a unique product for health-conscious consumers
A 'nutraceutical' is a substance that may be considered a food or part of a food which provides medical or health benefits. It is an alternative to a pharmaceutical and is therefore regulated differently.
Complementary medicines (also known as 'traditional' or 'alternative' medicines) include vitamin, mineral, herbal, aromatherapy and homoeopathic products and are listed on the Therapeutic Goods Administration's (TGA) register.
Essence Group's expansion means the business can increase its capacity to process approximately 3,000 kilograms of new TGA complementary medicines over the course of an eight hour shift, and also enable the company to process and pack liquid products in container sizes ranging from 50 millilitres to one litre.
The funding comes from the $100 million Regional Job Creation Fund which aims to create 5,000 new jobs in regional NSW by providing incentives to expand and keep operations in regional areas.
