Through a round of workshops held in Ulladulla, Batemans Bay and Nowra in 2020, there emerged a common theme - community groups need assistance training their volunteers.
"The feedback was that no-one was training committee members so things like how to take the minutes, how to run an AGM, attract people to new roles, and set up emails for example were proving really overwhelming," Community Connect chairman Matt Dell said.
"And then you get people being pressured into staying in the secretary, president or treasurer roles just because no-one else knows how to do it."
The learning resource aims to support the structural underpinning of volunteer organisations.
The online Learning Library covers a plethora of topics relevant to non-profit organisations, ranging from marketing and governance, to COVID safety, events, grants and tenders and board roles.
Matt said the many hours of resources are broken down into 'bite size pieces that are easy to digest'.
With Community Connect Southern Shoalhaven partnering with iclick2learn, the resource will also feature information specific to the Milton Ulladulla community, uploaded by Community Connect.
Topics such as how to run a market event at Milton Showground, who to contact if you want to hire the community stage and an outline of the floor plan at the Ulladulla Civic Centre are some examples of the local information available.
While being connected to Community Connect Southern Shoalhaven is free, there's a $35 annual fee to access iclick2learn. Community groups pay iclick2learn directly.
Matt said Community Connect Southern Shoalhaven is always available to offer assistance to local volunteer groups, whether it's learning how to set up a suggestion box on a website - which they recently assisted the Bawley Point Kioloa Community Association with - or something bigger, communication is always open.
Contact Community Connect Southern Shoalhaven via its Facebook page or email help@communityconnects.com.au. The group's website will soon be up and running.
