The source of infection for five of these new cases is under investigation.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District provided a postcode breakdown for the location of these new cases.
Seven of the new cases are located in 2541 and two are in 2540.
Across the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), there were 63 new COVID-19 cases recorded.
The ISLHD also reported the death of one person with COVID-19, a man in his 70s from Wollongong died at Wollongong Hospital. He was not vaccinated.
Wollongong recorded 43 cases of COVID-19 with investigations continuing for 30 of these cases.
Shellharbour recorded 11 new cases, with one under investigation.
Kiama recorded no new cases.

Across NSW, 85.5 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 60.1 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Saturday, September 25.
