Shoalhaven Education Fund alumnus Axel Nurdin, from Ulladulla, was one of the winners.

Axel won the Country Education Foundation of Australia and Audi Foundation Rising Star award this evening - from a field of 21 nominees.

The online event gave past and present recipients, volunteers, families and passionate stakeholders the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of more than 6000 rural and regional youth the organisation has supported since 1993.

CEF Chief Executive Officer, Juliet Petersen said she was thrilled with the momentum the awards have gained since inception in 2018.

"The level of engagement from not only our foundations but our communities and the friends and families of our recipients this year has just been extraordinary," she said.

"We received more than 50 nominations across the five categories which is a testament to the talent and dedication of our rural and regional youth, and to the impact they have on the lives of others."

The Shoalhaven Education Fund [SEF] congratulated Axel on his efforts.

"This award reflects Axel's dedication to his studies (in medicine) but also the enormous amount he does to support his fellow students, a number of whom nominated him for the award. All of us at the SEF are very proud of Axel," the group posted in a statement online.

The SEF, partnering with the community to achieve success, provides grants

to give young people a helping hand making the transition into further education,

training or their chosen vocation a successful one
