President of the group Peter Still said the change in name would reflect the group's changing role.
"The Cancer Outpatients Appeal [COA] has undergone a status change and will now be known as the Cancer Support Foundation of Milton Ulladulla Incorporated," he said
The former COA was originally established in 2003 to raise money to build the Community Cancer Services Centre.
It also contributed to the establishment of the Palliative Care Unit at Milton Ulladulla Hospital along with supplying equipment and support material to those facilities.
"To date, with the help of our local community the COA has contributed over $3,000,000 to the Cancer Services Centre and palliative care at Milton Ulladulla Hospital," Mr Still said.
"It became clear the role of the COA was changing and we were being asked for broader support from clinicians for cancer patients, which was probably not best supported by the existing constitution.
"The constitution and objectives have been amended accordingly, along with a change of name that will allow the Cancer Support Foundation of Milton Ulladulla to not only continue the existing support provided but additionally provide individual local cancer/palliative care patients with medical, pharmaceutical, and other support.
"It will also better reflect the enduring status of the charity as a foundation within our community."
Mr Still said they will work closely with the respective clinicians at the Milton Community Cancer Centre, palliative care and hospital management to identify opportunities where the Cancer Support Foundation of Milton Ulladulla can appropriately support those in our local community suffering from cancer.
The group is always looking for new people to join the Cancer Support Foundation, if you are interested please contact Peter Still on 0448 545 652.
