Aloft (from January 29 to February 11), presents recent works by Jasmine Mansbridge and Annalisa Lawrence, an exhibition that celebrates both artists' use of colour and form.
Jasmine "poured myself into this new body of work" and added, " it is always an emotional thing to come to the end of a process in which I invest so much energy".
"As the title suggests the exhibition started with an idea in which I could talk about growth, change and metamorphosis and somehow visually represent all the ways this can happen," Jasmine said.
"I could never have predicted that in the time between starting the paintings until now (roughly six months), so many things would change on a large scale with the impact of the Australian bushfires and then on a global level with the coronavirus now affecting so many people's plans and livelihoods.
"My own personal life has also seen significant shifts, challenges and opportunities, all of which are forcing me to expand and learn more about myself and my place in the world."
Annalisa, known as the Saltwater Woman, paints with a confident intensity, creating images of forgotten days by the beach with her brush and rare soulful energy.
From her home studio, using acrylic and mixed media, she chronicles her experiences as a mother, surfer, and traveller, into stripped-back images, with the nagging suggestion that something inherent in the human condition binds us all together.
"Using acrylic and mixed media, I've created visual anchors that remind us of these moments," Annalisa said.
The gallery is open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm at 2/ 74 Princes Highway.
