Our first and reserve grade squads are growing and we would like to welcome Sean and Joel Deaves, and Arthur Scott who are transferring to the Doggies.
On top of that, Aaron Byrne has signed up to play his first game of rugby league with his mates at the age of 24 - coming from an Australian Football and rugby union background.
We are still in need of a few more first and reserve grade players to complete our ranks for the season, so if you are interested in having a run with the Doggies this season, please contact head coach Nathaniel Morrison on 0438 186 589.
The women's league tag team is also growing, proudly welcoming Rianna Condon and Mel Browne to the team, as well as Janie Murray who will be joining her point scoring superstar sister Ebony in Doggies colours this season.
Our under 18s are training well as a merged squad, with some of last year’s team along with the younger boys coming up from the junior club 2016 under 16s squad.
This team has lots of talent spread across the field – including Sam McCann, who is part of the Steelers SG Ball team, Jayden Millard is part of the Parramatta high performance unit and Tarje Whitford has been asked to trial with the Stingrays representative team for the upcoming Country Championships.
The clubs first trial day has now been confirmed by the Country Rugby League and Group 7.
It will see all teams travelling to take on Stingrays at Shellharbour at Shellharbour on Saturday, March 18 with the women’s league tag game commencing at 11am right through to first grade kicking off at 3pm.
In other club news, Bulldogs women’s league tag star Lauren Murty had another strong performance for the Pride Sevens at the weekend. At the Lake Macquarie Sevens tournament, Murty’s side won their first game 25-7 against West Harbour before going down by one try (15-10) to Hunter.
In their final round game against Sydney University, Murty’s side was controversially being disallowed a try after the final siren, to go down 7-5. As such, Pride Sevens missed out on playing in the finals, on for and against. Murty and her Pride Sevens will be back on the field this Saturday, February 25 at the annual Kiama Sevens.
