The Business Community Network (BCN) founded by Andrea Tucker are the latest in a long line of groups to donate to the charity, depositing $8743.70 on April 18.
“After the build we were left with certain responsibilities as the COA in maintaining the property, extra education, oncology, transport, volunteers for the wig library, meals; we pay for the food used and garden maintenance,” Mr Still said.
The work of the COA in the Cancer Outpatients Unit, along with new Renal and Paliative Care Units is an “ongoing project” said Mr Still.
“Now palliative care has come on board and we still have some responsibilities there to furnish and decorate it,” he said.
“We (COA) are the major share holder in the build of that, apart from the government.
“We offer an ongoing support system to the people receiving care.
We are constantly raising good money and it's excellent. There is a lot of generosity in this town.”
Mr Still said the group now need to “refill the coffers” so they can continue their much needed support of services in the region. This is made possible by donations like the one made by the BCN.
The BCN is an initiative designed to bring like-minded people together to support business education.
Following a series of successful events in 2016, Mrs Tucker decided to add a charity arm to the organisation to give back to the community.
“We had 120 business people at the event and proceeds from the tickets and auction items went to the COA,” she said.
“It just shows how lucky we are to live in this community, they always rally behind us to support.
“We choose the COA because we wanted the funds to come local, stay local and all of the money go directly to the work of the charity.
“This has all come from the community; everyone puts in a little and it all adds up.”
