The event will focus on how to incorporate Buddhist teachings into daily life to help deal with depression and anxiety.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the palliative care unit at the Milton Ulladulla Hospital.
“These talks are important to everyone,” Lama Choedak Rinpoche said.
“Parents, carers, health professionals and the people who try so hard, and love so much. it is designed to help everyone who has loved ones and members in the community who are suffering with depression, sadness of loss, sickness and death.”
Lama Choedak Rinpoche will show people to look into their hearts to recognise the role it plays in the mind.
“This can be an immediate cause of depression,” he said.
“We give care, but we cling to what we give and this entraps us, and those we seek to help.
“It is our duty as human beings to help each other to not fall into this pit, that is so long, cold and dark.”
The word Buddhist means to wake up, Lama Choedak Rinpoche said, and during his talk he will explain how to bring light into your life and “wake up from the darkness”.
“Depression and anxiety are caused by a darkness,” he said.
“It is very unaware and unconscious; nobody does this deliberately.
“We live in the first world, a developed world, but deep down we, as people, are underdeveloped.
“We neglect important human dignities of kindness, self respect, compassion, kindness and tolerance to each other.
“Our world will not survive without each others kindness.”
Tickets are available at the door: $20 adults, $15 concession and $10 for under 18-year-olds.
