NSW RFS Shoalhaven district officer Marc Donnelly said a small hazard reduction burn was completed at Manyana on October 5, while a Kings Point burn was being undertaken on Friday, October 6.
“The one today (Friday) is being undertaken south of the Kings Point village,” he said.
“We are taking advantage of mild conditions today. It is a small one-hectare burn in preparation for a larger hazard reduction burn in that area, which we will complete when the conditions allow in the coming weeks.
“There will be some smoke in the area but nothing to worry about. We expect the burn will be complete early this afternoon.”
Mr Donnelly said with little rain residents needed to remain vigilant this fire season.
“People should maintain their properties, clean gutters, put combustible items away and ensure they have a bush fire survival plan in place,” he said.
“Monitor the RFS website for fire updates.”
