About a dozen RATS runners, three walkers and two cyclists headed off from near the Lake Tabourie Caravan Park, last Sunday morning. It was a very chilly morning, with an even cooler breeze and everyone was keen to get moving.
The group went out to the highway and then south, before heading into the township. They continued south-east through the residential area and onto a well-used walking track which winds generally in a southerly direction. Protected from the breeze, this track provided the best running of the morning.
The RATS came out onto Blackbutt Road, which returned everyone to the highway. Most headed straight back to the caravan park from here, with a few minor variations. Most did 12 to 13km, except Bob who ran a total of 18km.
The four girls lining up for the Oxfam Challenge, Kim, Gay, Nicole and Jodie, paused briefly to swap their running shoes for walkers and started out again, looking for a total of 60km for the day.
The rest of the RATS, satisfied with their morning’s efforts, settled for coffee and the warm environs of Mavericks Café.
