“On Friday, December 30 Shoalhaven Water staff responded to a broken water main under the intersection of the Princes Hwy and Wason Street Ulladulla,” they said in a statement to The Times.
“The broken main caused damage to the road surface and required isolation or immediate repair,” Shoalhaven Water director Carmel Krogh said.
“Repair of the main would not be desirable due to the high volume of traffic and tourists that would be inconvenienced.
“Staff were able to isolate the main by installing a new 150mm stop valve in the footpath on the Princes Highway near the National Australia Bank.
“The main was returned to service and the road temporarily repaired.”
Shoalhaven Water will carry out a full repair of the main after the peak holiday season to minimise any disruptions to customers and the public.
