Heading south into what looked like a very wet Saturday morning, Milton Rugby players were surprised to find Narooma bathed in sun shine and a steady breeze.

The playing field was well grassed and firm under foot, which lead to some fast open rugby.
Milton arrived at Narooma with nine very inexperienced players, but with support from the Narooma boys we played the day with 13.
The first two games, against Bombala, then Broulee, the team played well, some good combinations are showing for a good season.
Dean Ridley and Mick Devlin are looking comfortable in the halves positions, with Mitch Rixon showing good speed and new confidence in defence in the outside backs.
The last two games against the Bay and Jindabyne, showed there is a big gap to fill to be competitive in this year’s competition.
Up against the better drilled and experienced teams, we showed complete lack of knowledge in the ruck and maul and our defence in the first half against the Bay was non-existent, the second half they pulled it together and starting driving into their tackles and scored some very good tries.
All in all it was a very good day of Rugby, the boys that were able to make the trip, finally, were able to play some contact football and run out the summer cobwebs.
I think Deano has seen some good signs from today and knows where to put a lot of effort at training.

South Coast Rugby Union
Local South Coast Rugby competition will commence this weekend at Dalmeny Oval, Narooma.
The annual 10-a-side carnival will be played with all teams participating in this fast and exciting format of the game of rugby.
The day will start at 1pm and will commence with last year’s grand final teams Batemans Bay and Broulee playing. Both teams report plenty of new players and it is expected the traditional intense rivalry should be on display.
Both Dalmeny fields will be used simultaneously and should provide plenty of ongoing action all afternoon.
All games are played as 2 x 10 minute halves with teams using five forwards and five backs.
In other news, the proposed merger of South Coast and Monaro Division 2 competitions, has been set for next season. It was agreed at a recent meeting to commence the new competition in 2015 to give all clubs more time for planning for additional travel and games.
South Coast Rugby Union has again nominated to contest representative rugby in the Brumbies Provincial Shield at Jindabyne on the June long weekend.
