Ultramarathon burns survivor Turia Pitt has won a multimillion-dollar settlement against the organisers of the race that left her with burns to 64 per cent of her body.

Ms Pitt and fellow competitor Kate Sanderson suffered life-threatening injuries in the race in September 2011, while running through WA’s Kimberley region as part of the event organised by Racing the Planet.
Both women suffered burns to at least 60 per cent of their bodies when they became trapped by the fire on the course near Kununurra.
Ms Pitt suffered burns to 64 per cent of her body, and had four fingers from her left hand and her right thumb amputated.
Ms Sanderson also suffered extensive burns, had her left foot amputated, lost part of her earlobes and part of her right index finger.
Ms Pitt, 26, was told by doctors that her injuries were so severe that she might not survive.
Ms Pitt launched Supreme Court action against the organisers in February last year, and on Thursday it came to an end with an out of court settlement.
The confidential settlement was agreed to in the NSW Supreme Court with the Hong Kong-based organisers.
Her lawyer Greg Walsh told The West Australian that they were "very relieved" the matter had come to an end.
"She will be left with horrific injuries for the rest of her life but at least she won't have to put up with the stress and worry of a protracted court case," he said.
Ms Sanderson reached a settlement with Racing the Planet last year.
The WA state government previously offered $450,000 "act of grace" payouts following a parliamentary inquiry into the tragedy.
A committee found the organisers did not take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of competitors.
It also found organisers did not take all reasonable steps to identify risks before the race, or maintain the safety of competitors despite knowing a bushfire was burning nearby.
The inquiry condemned Tourism WA for sponsoring the event without requesting or properly assessing the event’s risk management plan or confirming insurance policies were in place.
Since the settlement was reached on Thursday, Ms Pitt has taken to social media, tweeting a photo of herself with partner Michael Hoskin and the helicopter pilot who rescued her from the bushfire.
