Flying through life like a leaf in the wind is this week's edition of the weekly wash, proudly brought to you by AKWA Surf, keeping you informed with all the surf happenings locally and what's been happening on the pro tour.
Wow what a moody week.
We pretty much had it all with beautiful spring days full of lust and mischief.
But then came old man winter as bitter and twisted as he has ever been, throwing down rain hard as if he was angered by the tanning of once lush green paddocks.
Then the vengeful season decided it was not enough and put together a wind so foul and messy one could have been mistaken that a cyclone had been whipped up and sat itself directly on the 2539 postcode.
The surf replicated the days with some amazing sessions going down.
However on Monday the seas pushed through some monstrous waves.
As I talk the surf should at least be around for some time to come so stay keen.
Saturday morning was just gorgeous.
A nice south-east-directed surf came to greet us and the weather was fantastic.
Local surfer Ryan "Goffy" Gough was one who took advantage of the situation at the Bombie.
Goffy, who has just returned from a stint in Hollywood where he played Zach Galifianakis’ stunt double in the upcoming Hangover 4 was so happy to have his feet well and truly rooted into his wax and not on a movie set, especially when he stroked into the wave of the day.
With the surf coming in at more angles than Jennifer Lopez twerking, a few weirder locations showed promise.
After scouring the weather maps and making sure all ingredients were correct, a little sneaky session went down on the same day at super secretive ledge somewhere west of Pigeon House and 007 agents Russel Beirke and Khy Hoole were slipped in secret service style.
The wave offered some really deep tubes for the boys who had been asked to keep the location under lock and key but the boys took the keys and ran with it with some very memorable surfing at a place unknown and may not be surfed again.
There is a special surf event on Sunday, September 14 at Mollymook to help support young surfer Liam Blakely.
On April 12 the fit and healthy 14-year-old Liam was flown to Randwick Children’s Hospital and shortly after was put on life support.
It was scary to see a top neurology team not knowing what was wrong, how to make him better and what the future would hold.
After Liam was taken off life support the neurology team said his progress is in his hands.
Liam had to learn how to walk, talk and eat again.
He is still fighting strong, however he is still heavily medicated and requires a lot more support to regain his independence.
He has Autoimmune Post-Viral Encephalitis, the second person in Randwick Children’s Hospital to have such a thing.
We are trying to raise some money for his medications, teacher’s aides and speech pathologists.

In international surfing news, Tanner Gudauskas has won the ASP 5-Star Soöruz Lacanau Pro over Leonardo Fioravanti in a fading two-to-three-foot swell.
An exciting final saw the two go head to head but eventually it was Gudauskas who solidified his lead, the Californian taking home an impressive US$20,000, plus 2000 ranking points.
“It was fun, you know every heat I was like, 'Ok cool, I made it!'” Gudauskas said.
“I wasn’t looking too far ahead and the guys were ripping, Charly, Vincent and Leo were really in form all event. Just to win an event feels so good I haven’t done that in a long time. The waves today were sort of like what we’re used to surf at home, but still I feel a little lucky today.”
