The Milton Ulladulla and District branch was also formed after the war started but unfortunately the branch closed, opened again and closed again.  

In 1988 a public meeting was held in Milton and addressed by Kevin and Betty Baldwin, who were retired from working in head office of Australian Red Cross and lived in Milton.  

With a membership of 16 the branch was reformed and has grown from strength to strength since that time.

In 1996 Gill Rolfe, Ken Terry and Bev Latta started the Telecross service in the area and then joined the branch and became life members - they also brought in several of the Telecross callers as members at that time.  

Emergency services followed and the energy of the branch increased together with membership so that today there are over 30 members.

Members of the branch have been celebrating Red Cross serving the community in Australia for 100 years with different events during the year.  

Members were pleased to receive special service awards from the NSW Governor at Parliament House in Sydney at World Red Cross Day on May 8.  

Bunnings have been a great support for Red Cross branches throughout the country and the local branch has been well supported by Bunnings in Ulladulla.  

A sausage sizzle was held on Saturday, August 9 to help celebrate 100 years of service and members wore capes and head-dresses which were replicas of those worn by nurses during the war.  

On Thursday, August 14 several Shoalhaven branches joined together to have a market display at the Wesley Hall in Nowra.

Thanks to all those who contribute knitted, sewn and hand-made items to the branch for sale.

The members will be having a market stall in Milton on September 6 to celebrate the Great Cake Bake, and on August 29 Bunnings will be holding a Great Cake Bake event outside their store with members of the Red Cross joining in to raise funds for Red Cross.  

The branch thanked Bunnings for its help and hopes the public will support Red Cross by coming and purchasing a cake.

The branch continues to supply hand-knitted trauma teddies to the hospital and medical centres in the area and now also supply the teddies to Stewart House in Sydney where they are greatly appreciated by the children.  

Thanks to all who knit and complete these bears of comfort.

The branch gives away almost 200 bears every month and can only manage this with the co-operation of all the wonderful knitters.  

Donations of eight ply wool and craft filling are always appreciated.
