Deb Riches, Gabrielle Pullinger and Shasta North showed they have what it takes to impress the judges when they placed second in the competition that raised $1475 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The women in the Jay Rash Jewellers team plated up an impressive beef dish, assisted by Crooked River Winery chef and Masterchef guest chef Coop Woodstone.
Gabrielle said the competition, held in the Sussex Inlet Thompson Street community centre, was “so much fun”.
“We had a great day,” she added.
Competition organiser Sussex Inlet Community bank manager Marienne Kastelein was pleased with the inaugural event and hoped to hold a similar challenge in July 2015.
“The Bendigo Bank was a sponsor of the last Masterchef show and they challenged the banks to host cooking events to raise funds for the children’s charity,” she said.
“Branches all around Australia have been holding events like this.”
Marienne said six teams from local businesses were invited to take part in the challenge and were each given a mystery box containing a different protein to use to create a dish in a limited amount of time.
She said teams were nervous, but enjoyed the day.
“The meals they cooked with the help of Coop were amazing,” she added.
