This warm, funny and sometimes moving children’s play is being presented at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre for one day only on October 1, 2014.
The story is based on the adventures of a 9-year-old girl Audrey Barlow who lives in the outback in 1930s Australia.
There is a lot of change occurring in the outside world as Audrey wonders about the really important things in life such as ... whether being a swaggie is lonelier than being a girl and how many eggs can a chicken hold in their stomach at one time?
This charming story will be enjoyed by the whole family.
“It has been a five-year project and we are very excited to see it finally hit the boards,” said company director Juliet Scrine.
“Using a professional space has given us a fantastic opportunity to tell the story of Audrey using modern technology in a comfortable environment for our audience.
“Many of our productions including Shakespeare in The Gardens have been outside so it has been wonderful to work somewhere where we have total control of the show.”
Company Director Ian McColm said the best professionals from the region were involved in the production.
“Imogen Ross is our designer, Toby Knyvett our lighting designer and local set builder David Thomas will be constructing Audrey’s world,” he said.
“EGTC’s ethos is to employ local Illawarra performers and industry professionals.
“David Sharpe is our director and fellow script adaptor, Susan Kennedy plays the role of mum, Ben Verdon the role of Pryce and Juliet and I are also in the cast.”
This production has been put together with thanks to support from Upper Kangaroo River Progress Association Inc Artist in Residency Program and the Merrigong Make it @Merrigong Program.
Show times are on 10am, 11.30am and 1pm and bookings can be made by calling 1300 788 503 or visiting the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre website.
