Individuals and community groups will be invited to take part in the Anzac Day march to mark a century of service and sacrifice, encompassing all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations in which Australians have been involved.

The centenary commemoration will be the most significant event held in Milton, with the march to be followed by a service at the village cenotaph.

Milton shop keepers and businesses will be encouraged to decorate their shop windows and more than 2000 Australian flags will be handed out to children during the April 25 event.

School children and community groups will join veterans and their families for what is expected to be the biggest Anzac event ever seen in Milton.

March coordinator David Johnson said the Milton celebration continued to grow each year and he hoped the 100th anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli would be an “impressive commemoration” for the local community.

He said plans were in the pipeline for a series of special events that could include a historical or photographic display.

“It will be such an important day and a significant celebration,” David said.

“We hope to see thousands lining the streets to watch the march and plan to have a flag fluttering every 80 centimetres.”

Anzac events are also being planned for Ulladulla, with a dawn service at Kendall Cottage and a morning service at the ExServos Club memorial.
