ULLADULLA captain Aaron Wester won the toss against Bomaderry and elected to bat on a wicket that could go either way at Bomaderry Oval.
Wester and United titan Terry Dorrell opened the batting and looked strong against rep bowler Muggleton and veteran Stuart Jeffries, setting the tone on a hot afternoon.
Wester (8) was first to fall after he got a beautiful in-swinging yorker by Muggleton, that took his middle stump .
Dorrell was soon run out for 10.
Enter the leading run scorer from last season and younger brother of ex-Tasmanian Nathan Bell, Harley Bell.
Harley looked solid and the only way seemingly to get him out was run out, and that’s exactly what followed when Harley departed for six.
Big hitter and Fijian Wesley Gbauramyona Holmes (2) then went too early as he was caught at point.
As the innings looked grim, hat-trick hero Jason Linke took the attack to Bomaderry, showing power and hitting boundaries to all corners of the ground for a solid 45 before he was caught at cover.
Bond was not out on nine on debut and showed professionalism to play a great anchor role as he watched the experienced Nathan Bell go to work on Bomaderry's opening bowlers for a solid 20 batting at 11.
United were all out for 126.
Bomaderry looked confident and aggressive but the return of the “scientist of swing”, Chris Barford (4/42) was not recognised by Bomaderry and they paid the price later on.
New all-round opening bowler Wes Holmes looked dangerous and fast and an early chance went down as Bomaderry took to Holmes and put him out of the attack which bought Bond into the attack.
Barford clean bowled Roth for 17 and Bond’s first wicket was a big fish in Paul Sawkins, who was caught behind by stand-in keeper Harley Bell.
The intimidator Kris Salafia appeared aggressive bowling to Blake Munilla and Jon Muggleton, but as the deck flattened out skipper Aaron Wester had to look to the biggest weapon in his artillery, king of kings, leg spinner Nathan Bell (4/6), who was ready to take the attack to Bomaderry.
Nathan Bell started with dismissing Blake Munilla on 82, caught by Wes Holmes.
Barfod then got another wicket caught in slip by Grant Morris then snicking up Jon Muggleton for a dodgy 10.
Bell was mesmerising as Bomaderry’s best batsmen, Jason Bell then entered to face Ulladulla’s biggest weapon.
Nathan Bell had Jason Bell caught in first slip with an amazing flipper for 16 and a dark catch by Jason Linke.
Bomaderry just got the runs as United bowled them out for 137.
United will be eager to take the second innings next week with the return of Matt Gilkes. Harley Bell very rarely puts two bad innings together, with the pitch deteriorating Nathan Bell and Aaron Wester will also be licking their lips.

SECOND grade struggled against Bomaderry with a couple of late pull-outs and missing players.
Seconds took to the field at Ulladulla Sports Park with seven players and if it was not for the help of under 12 players Elijah King, Riley Jarrett and Jayden Grainger, as well as Rob Gilkes, they would have struggled.
These four were awesome in the field and were much appreciated by the rest of the team.
Scott King (3/33), Julias Machado (2/60), Brad Field (1/27) and 11-year-old Elijah King (2/17) did damage with the ball before Bomaderry declared at 8/272.
Field (18 n.o) and Matt Shea (1) opened the batting after a huge day in the field with Ulladulla 1/19 after seven overs.
After more pull-outs, Ulladulla third grade was left with seven players and super sub fielder Michael Ramsden for their match against Bomaderry at Artie Smith Oval.
Bomaderry won the toss and elected to bat.
New Ulladulla recruit Anatole Taylor opened the bowling with Malcolm Granger and had Bomaderry at 2/11.
It was former Ulladulla teammate Matt Glyde, now playing for Bomaderry, who became Ulladulla’s main problem, scoring an unbeaten 109 and leading Bomaderry to declare at 7/258.
Taylor picked up 3/49 and young Dale Ramsden bowled well for 0/26.
Ulladulla had an hour to survive before the end of day one and only had three fit players.
Skipper Shane Isherwood opened with master pastor Stephen Donohue and the pair put on 19 before Stephen went for four runs.
Granger joined the skipper at the crease and they put on a further 26 before Granger was dismissed for three.
Ulladulla finished on 2/45.
THE weather was sensational at Zealand Oval on Saturday as the Civic Video Ulladulla took on Berry.
The extreme outfield promised a flood of boundaries and the batsmen got full value for their shots.
First time skipper Chris Jones lost the toss and Ulladulla found themselves in the field.
Chinamen bowler, James Baccarini starred with the ball taking 5/21.
Baccarini has worked hard on his game and was rewarded with a caught behind, a bowled, a stumping with two catches taken in the field, one by debutant Nathan Avery.
Nathan (1/32) also bowled well as did Emily Jaeger (1/25), Ben Williams (1/19), Bryce Goldfinch (1/32) and Andrew Robertson (1/16).
George Nielsen took two spectacular slips catches while Junior collected three dismissals as wicketkeeper, including one stumping.
Cooper Jones, in his debut game of senior cricket, acquitted himself well in the field.
Berry were all out for 154 after 33.2 overs.
Chris Jones and James Baccarini opened for Ulladulla and the first over went for 12 runs but also included the wicket of Jones (8).
This brought George Nielsen to the crease and he and Baccarini put on a stand of 102, both with 39 runs.
Ben Williams (26 n.o) and Mick Jaeger (16 n.o) finished of the bedraggled Berry with Ulladulla taking the win in the 25th over.
Next week fourths play Ex-Servos at Milton Showground.
Thank you to Hayden Jones for scoring.
Maleficent – Civic Video of the week Hero of the Day was James Baccarini with 5/21 and 39 runs.
