The HSC student completed year 11 at the academy in 2013 and returned home to complete her final year at Ulladulla High School.
Tess will sit her final exams next week and, in the same week, will attend nine auditions for performing arts companies located in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
She is Ulladulla High School’s only dance student and completed her course via distance education.
Her practical exams, which included two major dance performances and a choreography composition, were carried out at Bomaderry High School in August, while the written test was completed locally two weeks ago.
“It’s been pretty good doing distance education this year because my teacher Amanda Grady is great,” she said.
“I think I did pretty well in both the practical and written exams.”
Tess has been dancing since the age of 11 and hopes to gain a position with a major dance company such as the Victorian College of The Arts or the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
“I would like to study dance and drama and get into musical theatre,” she said.
Tess said the HSC dance course focused mainly on the technical side of dance, while she preferred a commercial contemporary style.
“Commercial contemporary is modern and has weird movement - it’s alternate,” she said.
“It’s used a lot on stage and in television.”
Tess is also studying drama and completed her HSC exam in that subject on Monday afternoon.
