Molly-Kate McKinnon, Jordan Williams, Kate Wilson, Emily Rout, Meredith Woodcock and Cody Wray will be presented to the community in a presentation evening at the ExServos on Saturday night, following a day of judging, and one will be named the 2015 Milton Showgirl.
Anyone is invited to attend the evening this Saturday.
Cost is $50, which includes a three course meal, and tickets can be purchased from the Milton Florist by close of business this Thursday, November 27.
If you miss the presentation evening you can still catch all the showgirls at the Milton Show to be held on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21.
MILTON’S Cody Wray loves her community, describing it as “a top town.”
“I love that our community is very friendly and welcoming,” she said.
The 19-year-old graduated from St John the Evangelist Catholic High School and now works as a sales assistant at Milton IGA.
Cody entered the competition to keep the Milton Showgirl tradition alive.
I didn’t want the showgirl competition fold, but also for fun and to experience the showgirl competition,” she said.
Cody has a vast history of participating in the Milton Show having previously entered the biscuit decoration event, various baking events, photography, the school posters, various fruit and vegetable and flower competitions.
“But I like the horse events the best at the Milton show - when it isn’t rained out,” she laughed.
When she isn’t busy working, Cody enjoys playing netball, swimming, going to the beach, camping, reading, watching TV shows and hanging out with friends.
MILTON’S Emily Rout, 21, “entered Milton Showgirl as I feel it is a rite of passage for young women who have grown up in this wonderful area.”
“I have always enjoyed following the Milton Showgirl competition over the years so I feel as though it is a privilege to be able to enter it myself this year,” she added.
Emily has worked at Milton IGA since 2008 and has also gained employment at Apple + Arrow in Milton.
She is studying a Bachelor of Public Health at The University of Wollongong after graduating from Ulladulla High School in 2012.
A keen show attendee, in the past Emily has entered various short stories, vegetables (particularly giant pumpkins and zucchinis), sunflowers, class show posters and her personal favourite - decorated pet rocks.
“I love all the wonderful memories I hold from the Milton Show,” she said.
“I remember saving all my pocket money for months and months on end so that I could be able to spend it at the Milton Show. I always enjoy going to the pet show and I absolutely adore looking at the pavilion, which showcases the immense talent of our local community.”
Emily said she loves helping people around her.
“This is why I am studying Public Health. I enjoy being active and taking my Cavalier King Charles dog, Ollie, for lots of walks around the local area,” she said.
LAKE Conjola’s Jordan Williams is a trainee pharmacy assistant after graduating from Ulladulla High School.
The 19-year-old previously worked at Subway Ulladulla for four years and really enjoys spending time in the community.
“ I like the fact that everyone is so friendly and willing to help even if they don't know you,” she said.
As an extension of this Jordan decided to enter the 2015 Milton Showgirl competition.
“I've never entered anything before and I thought it'd be a good experience to help build my self esteem,” she said.
When she is not busy working Jordan said she liked spend time with her boyfriend and friends, either going camping or four-wheel driving.
Jordan said she has not entered anything in past shows, “but I love the atmosphere of the Milton Show.”
“Everyone is always enjoying themselves and getting together as one whole community,” she added.
TWENTY-two year-old Kate Wilson said she loves Milton show because “it’s a huge community event that anyone can enjoy, no matter how old or young they are.”
Not content just to attend, Kate has previously been involved with the show by entering the animal show and school artworks.
The Milton local said the showgirl competition will help her gain experience in interviews and public speaking.
“It is also a chance to get dressed up and have some fun,” she laughed.
Kate has a keen interest in dancing, photography and beach walks with her dog and loves he local community because of the “love and support they give to families in time of need.”
Kate attended Milton Public School and Ulladulla High School, and after completing a Certificate III in Child Studies, Certificate II in Animal Studies and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, is now a veterinary nurse.
MILTON’S Meredith Woodcock, 21, is a housing assistant at Southern Cross Community Housing who has entered the 2015 Milton Showgirl because she has always enjoyed being part of the community.
“I hope to be an ambassador for Milton and The Milton Show. I will represent the Milton Show with pride and I am honoured to be a part of such a wonderful event,” she said.
Meredith graduated from Shoalhaven Anglican School in 2011 and she enjoys cooking, motor bike riding, exercising and playing the piano.
Previously Meredith worked for YMCA Ulladulla as 2IC and is now completing her diploma in community services.
Meredith said she always enters the Milton Show what she loves best about the event.
“I have entered arts and crafts and also entered my pets into the pet show when I was younger,” she said.
“In more recent times I ran the Shoalhaven Anglican School stall at the show and was chosen to go on the radio to promote the wonderful show and community.
“I love that the whole community comes together to celebrate such a wonderful and diverse range of produce, arts and crafts, cattle, pets and many other fantastic events the Milton Show offers.
“To see that the Show is popular after so many years of running and to see it is growing bigger and better every year is fantastic.”
EIGHTEEN-year-old Molly-Kate McKinnon is an Ulladulla High School graduate who is proud to be from Milton.
“I like the beaches and rural areas – it’s just a nice place to live,” she said.
Molly-Kate works as a nanny but has previously dedicated her time to cleaning and being a cashier.
She likes to keep busy going to the beach and making candles, and has a vision to complete animal studies next year.
Molly-Kate has history of participating in the Milton show by entering her plants and pets in their respective divisions.
“I also love watching the rodeo and looking at the animals during the day. And the rides,” she said.
Molly-Kate said she entered the showgirl competition because it would be a great way to get involved in a community event and an experience in dressing up.
