A convoy of more than 100 motorcyclists rumbled down the Princes Highway from the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, to the Ulladulla ExServos Club.
They were met by friends and family of children from both facilities, and some of the children themselves.
Overall, about 200 people were involved in the day, but the most involved were the six, very excited Budawang students.
“The kids think being around these bikes is better than Christmas,” said Budawang Principal, Sheryl Bruffey.
“There was a remarkable contribution from the whole community,” she said.
The fundraiser has been in the works since last November, when the Budawang P and C approached Ron Satchell with the idea of a convoy, and Ron agreed to take on the role of organiser.
“There have been a few setbacks, but I am over the moon with how well it went,” he said.
“It was 9.15 and there was just me and one other bloke there. I started to get worried, but by 10am, there were 100 of us.”
On the day there were also hundreds of dollars worth of raffle prizes donated by businesses in the community, and trophies that were donated for the best motorcycle displays.
In addition to bikes, there were car displays, a sausage sizzle and live entertainment from the band, No Treble.
The rain held off until later in the afternoon, and luckily the only person who got wet going home was Ron, who, after the success of the day, did not seem to mind at all.
Plans are already in the works for a 2016 ride.
