They have been travelling around regional NSW as part of the Voices in Print Tour, which gives people the opportunity to meet their favourite authors, and discover new ones.
Tricia Stringer, Jenn J Mcleod and Karen M Davis are all Australian woman who decided to start writing about what they know best, Australia.
In one of Karen’s novels, there is even a reference to Ulladulla.
All three woman have become hugely successful and have all published multiple books in their respective genres.
While Tricia Stringer writes about love in the country, Karen M Davis has based her crime novels around real life experiences she had while in the police force. Jenn J Mcleod focuses on people falling in love with the country.
“Australian readers want to read about Australia,” said Tricia Stringer.
“I want to get the Australian voice out there,” she said.
Aspiring writers in the Ulladulla area picked up some hot tips from both the authors and publishers from Harlequin Books.
Key pieces of advice were to write with an audience in mind, and to ensure you keep writing every day, worrying about the finer editing details later.
“Australian country romance is very popular right now,” said Harlequin books representative, Anabel Pandiella.
The authors are out and about for another 11 days promoting Australian writers, and encouraging people to take a chance on local voices.
