It was a cool, but calm and sunny morning, just perfect for a challenging hit out.
The run heads south east from the highway and is gradually downhill for about 7km, where we hit our first creek crossing.
From here, the run is quite undulating, all the way to the Walter Hood Memorial and a beautiful sandy beach.
The full run is about a 26km out and back, which is quite mentally tough, as you know the return journey is mainly uphill.
Only one runner and two mountain bikers made the full distance on this occasion as others were satisfied to turn back early, with distances varying from 14 to 18km.
One of our mountain bikers Michael, created history by becoming the first RAT ever to be nominated for the Platypus of the Year Award. In fact, a double Platypus.
The first Platypus occurred at a massive mud puddle, in the middle of the road.
Michael caught his handlebar on a small sapling, which twisted the handlebar unexpectedly and next thing, he was testing the depth and quality of the muddy water.
Jack was heard to say, "Well I'm really happy, because it wasn't me".
Jack was smiling for quite some time.
The second was a creek crossing where Michael errantly chose the deeper side to cross, with the inevitable result.
Steve enjoyed the free entertainment and invited Michael to come more regularly.
Coffee after at the Coffee Guild was enjoyed by all.
