Money raised will go towards our ongoing club costs, including equipment, uniforms and representative campaigns, as well as towards our dream of undercover courts!
Thinking of other ways to support our club? Please give some thought to volunteering on our committee.
The committee meets regularly through the year, and the next meeting will be Saturday August 1 at 2pm at the Mollymook Golf Club.
Please come along if you are thinking of helping in 2016.
Several members are looking to pass on their knowledge before they step down, and roles that will become available at the October annual meeting will include registrar, games co-ordinator and publicity officer.
A big thank you Tracey Smith, who with Lorraine Nowland and Leonie Sharp will take on the role of grading co-ordinator.
In the coming weeks, these ladies will be approaching coaches to discuss their players' strengths and weakness with a view to balancing teams for next year.
Keep an eye out or more information in Netball Natter!
The UDNA, together with Netball NSW, is introducing working with children checks for all volunteers within the club.
If you are thinking of coaching, managing or volunteering for your child's team next year, please take five minutes to get the ball rolling for your check at www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/working-with-children/working-with-children-check.
The check is free, and in ensuring all our volunteers are cleared, UDNA is doing the best we can for all our participants' welfare and safety.
If you have any questions or concerns, please have a chat with a committee member.
Saturday teams – please note the following dates for your calendars. There are no netball games on Saturday August 8.
Saturday August 29 is semi-finals, September 5 is quarter finals and September 12 is grand final day.
Make sure you're available to play!
As always, please check the website or Facebook page for wet weather game plans.
We may have the use of an indoor high school court in the coming weeks.
Another important date for your diary is Saturday August 22.
All players seeking to join our representative squads are advised that try outs for 11, 12 and 13 year old teams are to be held at the courts from 12.30pm – 2.30pm, and try outs for the 14 and 15 year teams will be held from 2.30pm – 4.30pm.
Please put your name down on in the coming weeks or on the day, and please see Michelle Hendrie if you have any questions.
Dates for senior representative squad try outs are yet to be advised – stay tuned.
A huge “Welcome back!” to our Thursday night ladies competition. With the school holidays and recent inclement weather, it looked like we were never going to get you back on court.
A special congratulations to Ruth Myers who hobbled back on court for her first game post knee reconstruction last year.
It wasn't pretty, but it was a start!
Thursday Ladies, please pay attention to the draw this week. Rounds 7 and 11 are being combined, and each team will be playing twice.
Remember to provide a team umpire for the times you are not playing!
From the Whistle
A big thank you to all our umpires this week. We were in desperately short supply and several people including Leigha Clough, Helen Pymble, Abbey Montgomery and Sheree Montgomery stepped in to get the games going.
Well done to Bella Surace, and her coach Lorraine Nowland, who umpired her first cadet game. Great work Bella! We welcome Rosie Riddick to umpiring as well.
Ruth and Loz would love to hear from all UDNA members who would volunteer one hour on a Saturday at either 11am or 12.30 pm to umpire an intermediate or cadet game.
Our young umpires need coaching which can only happen if we are relieved from actual umpiring. Without new umpires coming though the competition ceases.
Contact Ruth Robson (041 946 60 64) or Loz Dixon (041 998 99 09) for details.
Well done to all the sports award winners. We hope you are enjoying your rewards which have kindly been offered by our sponsors.
A reminder to coaches - check your player lists and ensure that all players eventually receive an award.
If in doubt, come and check the records at control.
