The landslide occurred in Mitchell Parade on Bannister Head on Tuesday afternoon, and slipped further down the hill overnight.
While the home did not slide, owner Sadhana Goulston said “It was very scary".
State Emergency Service volunteers were onsite on Wednesday morning to assist in stabilising the house and trying to prevent any further damage.
“The next stage is to contact council and a geotechnical engineer to find out why the landslide happened, and how it can be fixed," Sadhana said.
There has been a suggestion the trigger may have been a sewage line leak, combined with the extreme weather conditions.
“I stayed at a friend's house last night,” Sadhana said.
“It was a bit of a sleepless night.”
Sadhana runs a massage and yoga business at her home overlooking the northern end of Mollymook Beach and has had to cancel all her classes for the day.
