Last Sunday the RATS enjoyed a bush and beach view run on a gloriously cool but sunny morning. The start was a bit tough, heading up hill from Maccas, to the end of Green Street, before turning left into the bush. But this was rewarded with some pleasant bush running all the way to Burrill, with a short pause to take in the combined beach and lake view at Canberra Crescent.
A testing, but scenic, loop around Dolphin Point, brought the runners back to Burrill, ready to retrace their steps.
Next Sunday is Father's Day so the RATS will run close to home. Please meet at Narrawallee Inlet, at 6.30am. Those doing the Half in Sydney in a fortnight are really only looking for about 12km and our last man standing for the Full Marathon, Bob, has an easy two-hour hit-out. All welcome - distances can be adjusted to suit any standard.
RATS Upcoming Running Events: September 3 Makai Paddlers Lake Lunacy - Bungalow Park, Burrill Lake; September 11 Moruya SLSC's Town to Surf Fun Run - 8km; September 18 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival - 4km, 9km, 21.1km & 42.2km
Ulladulla RATS Cyclists (URC):
The URC aims to promote varied and interesting group rides for RATS, visitors and anyone just looking to join in. The easiest way to get involved in a group ride, is simply to turn up on any Saturday morning, at 7am, at the Heritage Bakery, Milton. The typical Saturday morning ride is 30-40kms, with a 'No Drop' policy (meaning you'll never be left behind). Or you can ring or text Phil, on 0417 047 120.
A few washed out days this week saw average distances down on previous weeks. However, 9 riders, including new rider Eva Schonstein, met on Saturday morning for a chilly but enjoyable ride out along Woodstock Road, finishing with coffee in the sun at the Heritage Bakery.
Last week's Strava statistics show Michael Van Ewijk leading the mileage with 247kms, closely followed by Roger Steele with 239kms. Young gun, Ben Rolfe leads the climbing stats with over 3900 metres gained. Wendy Smith was the leading female rider, with an impressive 175kms for the week.
URC Possible Rides (Looking for Expressions of Interest):
- 16th October - Spring Cycle (Bicycle NSW Event) - North Sydney to Olympic Park - 50 or 108km.
- 23rd October - Bowral Classic - Bowral and surrounds - 25, 90 or 160km.
