It started with Saturday’s official opening of Jindelara Respite Cottage, the culmination of an extraordinary whole-of-community effort. Years of relentless fundraising and lobbying has seen the realisation of a long-held dream to have local respite care available to parents and carers of people with disabilities. Well done, Milton Ulladulla!
Well done, too, to Narrawallee’s Lisa Elmas, who received a Pride of Australia medal for her rescue efforts in the aftermath of the Boxing Day crash that took the life of the Falkholt family and local man Craig Whitall.
Quick thinking on Wednesday morning saved the life of a 54-year-old at Mollymook Beach who suffered a heart attack. Passers-by and surf lifesavers who found the man commenced CPR and used a defibrillator to revive him before he was airlifted to Sydney.
We love having visitors at the Times office in Wason Street. When it’s members of the Happy Feet walking club, it’s extra special because these guys and gals are always so ... happy. This week they chalked up a big milestone: 9000km since they started nine years ago. Their members are evidence happiness and exercise go hand in hand.
Speaking of exercise, how good is our very own Sophia Fulton? The gun surfer took top honours at the Key Sun Zinke Sydney Pro Junior. You make us all proud, Sophia.
Catch you next week.
