Just ahead of the month ticking over to July, waste and recycling has been top of mind. Next month is Plastic Free July, which as I tap these plastic keys on my plastic computer has me wondering if it is indeed possible to be entirely plastic-free. Shoalhaven City Council is also looking how it can better process the waste it receives. It’s sending two councillors and a number of staff to check out a state-of-art waste recycling plant in Poland. Thanks to the efforts of Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley the FIX IT NOW campaign got a significant boost at the national general assembly of Australian local governments, held recently in Canberra. The congress passed a motion calling for the highway to be recognised as a road of national importance.
Finally, a big shout out to former Ulladulla High School captain Jason Ardler, who was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding service to Indigenous people in NSW. Well done, Jason.
