The initiative, run by PETstock’s charity arm PETstock Assist and leading adoption site PetRescue, is this year hoping to double the number of pets adopted during 2018 to 1,000.
Rescue pets from South Coast Animal Rescue Inc will be in store and president Lynne Thurston will be on-hand to answer any questions from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, February 9. Mrs Thurston said she hoped to educate the public on different breeds, personalities, what to look for in a pet, how to adopt the right pet for your household and the importance of discipline.
“You look for an instant bond, you’ve got to look for something that goes ‘oh wow, sort of things’,” she said. “Dogs thrive on discipline, direction and if you haven’t got that they become uncontrollable, you’re not happy and they’re not happy.”
