A student and two teachers from Ulladulla High School have been recognised by the NSW Government for their commitment and excellence.

Teachers Benjamin Barry and Sarah Hunt and 2018 school captain Takesa Frank were celebrated for their outstanding achievements in public education at the 2019 NSW Minister's and Secretary's Awards for Excellence, held at Town Hall in Sydney on Tuesday, August 27.
The annual awards showcase NSW public school students, teachers, staff and parents who have made major contributions to their school communities and serve as role models to their peers.
Mr Barry and Ms Hunt both received Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award considers professional knowledge, practice and engagement, a Department of Education spokesperson said.
Mr Barry is a head teacher of HSIE at Ulladulla High School. He received the award for transforming "the way in which his students view themselves and their learning".
He has transformed classrooms into places of student advocacy and authentic meaningful projects, where the community is the audience and the learning is a deep, the spokesperson said.
"His dedication to Aboriginal Education has been highly significant through the enlivening of culture through the creative Arts of music and Dance which has proven to be the catalyst for highly improved literacy, attendance and engagement for Aboriginal Students."
Ms Hunt is currently the relieving head teacher of teaching and learning at Ulladulla. Her exceptional thinking, innovation and passion for teacher was recognised.
"She epitomizes everything that is needed to be a quality teacher. As a leading teacher, her professionalism in the implementation of Project Based learning and her professional reach in the development of colleagues across the state has been superb, in particular the Connected Communities," the spokesperson said.
"Sarah's work illustrates the impact that Sarah has had as a teacher/educator/leader to improve the outcomes of students. The collaboration, innovation and teacher confidence she has generated and supported has been outstanding. Sarah is deserved of the recognition.
Ms Frank received the Minister's Award for Excellence in Student Achievement. The award considers achievement in the academic, sporting, cultural and leadership fields, commitment to the school community and personal values.
Ms Frank has been an exceptional school leader, committed to making a difference in the school and in the wider community by encouraging it to be more environmentally award.
An outstanding School Captain of Ulladulla High School and an incredible young Aboriginal woman who has navigated her passions about the environment and the wellbeing of her fellow students."
Ms Frank was award Shoalhaven Youth of the Year 2019, Shoalhaven International Women's Award in 2018, Environmental Future Leaders Award 2019 and numerous school leadership awards.
