Reece Beauchamp, 25, pleaded guilty in Nowra Local Court to two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a shortened firearm, not keeping a firearm safely and possessing ammunition without a licence.
Police went to a Clissold Street home in Mollymook where Beauchamp was living around 6.35am this morning to serve a firearm prohibition order.
A search of the home uncovered a phial of testosterone in his bedroom and two small resealable plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance in a single garage.
Tests later revealed it to be .5 grams of methylamphetamine.
Officers also found a shortened .22 calibre bolt action rifle in a Makita bag inside the shed.
Court papers said the weapon had both a shortened wooden stock and metal barrel and only measured 330mm in length.
The bolt was inserted in the weapon however it was unloaded.
Also in the bag were eight .22 calibre rounds.
The court heard in a police interview Beauchamp admitted the drugs, steroids and ice, were both his and were for personal use.
He also admitted to having the shortened firearm for "his own protection".
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming sentenced Beauchamp to 14 months' jail with a non-parole period of seven months for possessing the shortened firearm.
She convicted him on the drug charges but did not impose any further penalty, however, she did fine him $750 for possessing ammunition without a licence.
