The next two days, we've told, will not be like any ordinary weekend. With the intrusion of COVID-19 into the South Coast, we should be on high alert. That means doing the social distancing thing and, if we can't, wearing a mask. It means washing our hands, not touching our faces and not travelling unless absolutely necessary. If feeling unwell, no matter how minor the symptoms, it means getting tested then isolating at home until the results are returned.

Steps have been taken locally to make all that easier. The Ulladulla COVID clinic will operate on Saturday. And local clubs have made the very sensible decision to turn away visitors from outside the region. Organisers of the craft beer festival have also made the tough decision to call the event off because they anticipate COVID will still be an issue in October.
In the midst of the pandemic, it can be easy to forget that people are still recovering from summer's devastating fires. At Conjola that recovery process continues, with an extraordinary effort being led by locals.
Also helping in the recovery is the arrival of housing pods, offering temporary accommodation to those who lost everything in the blazes and a boost to their wellbeing.
