This is the highest number of cases recorded overnight for the LGA since the beginning of the pandemic.
Five are linked to known cases and 12 are under investigation.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) reported six new cases in the 2540 postcode and 11 new cases in the 2541 postcode.

For the 24 hour period to 8pm Thursday, September 30, there were 96 new COVID-19 cases recorded for the ISLHD. The details are as follows:
- Wollongong recorded 64 new cases, 12 are linked to known cases and 52 are under investigation
- Shellharbour recorded 15 new cases, four are linked to known cases and 11 are under investigation
The ISLHD also reported that there were 35 COVID-19 patients being treated in Wollongong Hospital and one being treated in Shoalhaven Hospital as at 8pm Thursday, September 30.
NSW recorded 864 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
NSW Health reported the deaths of 15 people with COVID-19 - eight women and seven men.
The states vaccination rates are increasing with 87.2 per cent of people aged 16 and over having received a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 64 per cent are having received two doses.
